Notes on Excystment and Culture In vitro of the Microphallid Trematode, Gynaecotyla adunca (Linton 1905)

Abstract
Metacercariae from Uca pugilator on Pivers''s L, Beaufort, N. C. survived in vitro for a max. of 8 days in"1%" seawater at 40[degree] C. Worms shedding normal eggs were obtained within 80 hours. Egg shell formation occurs after 10-12 hours. 70 - 90% excystment results after incubation in 0.50% Pepsin (Merk, N.F.)-(2.0 ml.) and 0.038% HCl-(5 ml.), with "1%" seawater diluent.
