Abstract
The reaction cross section was measured in the proton bombarding energy range between the () threshold and 8.0 MeV. The neutron detector was a 24-in. cube of polyethylene with four neutron counters inserted radially toward the center of the cube where the target of O was placed. Analysis of the data was carried out by means of direct solution of the Lane equations and by application of a method similar to that due to Robson. In both analyses, the calculated excitation functions were compared with the () and () data. It is shown, in a practical sense, that the two methods of analysis give essentially equivalent results.
