Abstract
The low‐temperature heat capacity of zinc (in the normal state) has been expressed by Cv=γT+αT3+βT5 over the range from 0.15°K to about 8°K. The new parameters obtained are: γ=1.56×10—4 cal/deg2 mole, α=1.39×10—5 cal/deg4 mole, and β=2.44×10—7 cal/deg6 mole. The calorimetric Debye temperature, Θ0C, is found to be 322°K which is in reasonable agreement with the elastic value, Θ0E, of 328°K. The apparent disagreement between Θ0C and Θ0E values cited in the literature arises from the difficulty in analyzing the calorimetric data for a very anisotropic metal. Keywords
