Abstract
Pyloric preservation with pancreaticoduodenectomy has recently been described for selected periampullary tumors. The advantages of pyloric preservation include postoperative weight gain, absence of postgastrectomy syndrome, formed stools, and patient comfort. The decision of which operative procedure to use for suspected malignancy in the periampullary region depends on the surgeon's judgment. Keywords
