Abstract
An analytical general formula to calculate the symmetric eikonal scattering amplitude in one-electron capture from an initial nilimi state to a final nflfmf state in ion-atom collisions is presented. The formula has the form of a finite sum of polynomial-type functions depending on the transverse momentum transfer. The expression is valid for monoelectronic as well as for multielectronic systems. Keywords
