Abstract
Recent developments in the field of millimeter wavelength imagers intended for security and other applications are described. Passive mm-wave systems are now available that exploit high performance MMIC based sensors combined with mechanically scanned optics to provide highly cost effective industrial security cameras. The paper will describe the general principles inherent in the approach, describe the supporting technology and provide performance examples. Additionally the potential for the development of longer range sensor systems intended for surveillance and other applications is discussed
