Abstract
The effects of vertical and horizontal mechanical vibrations up to 100 cycles per second on the human being were examined by physical and physiological methods. Resonance phenomena are described. A strain scale is given for vertical and horizontal vibration excitation. Special examinations of the movement of the head show elliptic vibrations in spite of linear excitation. Vibration measurements in a rail-motorcar provide an example for typical resonance phenomena of the mechanical system formed by a ‘ man sitting on a seat’.Keywords
