Abstract
Implantations of aluminum oxide prostheses were started in 1972 for two reasons: firstly, because ceramic is completely bioinert and secondly, because when paired with ceramic it exhibits excellent friction properties. The following paper discusses the advantages and disadvantages of ceramic endoprostheses. Keywords
