THE DEGREE AND DURATION OF POLIOMYELITIS VIRUS EXCRETION AMONG VACCINATED HOUSEHOLD CONTACTS OF CLINICAL CASES OF POLIOMYELITIS

Abstract
A study of the fecal excretion of poliovirus was made among household contacts of poliomyelitis patients in an attempt to determine whether or not prior administration of Salk vaccine had influenced susceptibility to gastrointestinal infection. No signfficant difference in excretion of virus was found between children who had received one or two doses of vaccine and those who had not been previously vaccinated.
