Abstract
In this paper we describe the research on supplementary heating of toroidal plasma made in France at the Commissariat a l'Energie Atomique and in the European Community (with special reference to the J.E.T. project) in the frame of the national programs. A non exhaustive description of the world effort on this topic is also presented. Keywords
