Abstract
Root zones of grape (Vitis vinifera cv. Thompson Seedless) cuttings were infested with chlamydospores of G. fasciculatus or eggs of M. arenaria or both. Growth of grapevines was greatest in mycorrhizal (G. fasciculatus) plants. Mycorrhizal development and growth of mycorrhizal and nonmycorrhizal plants were reduced in the presence of M. arenaria. At low initial nematode inoculum (PI) levels (.apprx. 200 eggs/plant), the presence of mycorrhizae enhanced plant growth during 1 yr, but no significant benefit was achieved by mycorrhizae where PI was high (.apprx. 2000 eggs/plant). Final nematode populations were highest in mycorrhizal plants. Keywords
