Abstract
Adolescent manipulative behaviors are the focus of a combined field study and literature review. A taxonomy of manipulation generated within the setting of a large metropolitan juvenile detention facility is compared with literature sources and examined from the theoretical construct of a total institutional behavioral environment. Issues are raised which require consideration in planning nursing care for this and similar client populations. Keywords
