MORPHOLOGY OF VESICULAR STOMATITIS VIRUS

Abstract
Chicken embryo propagated vesicular stomatitis virus of the New Jersey type, 1949 Wisconsin strain, was purified by ultracentrifugation and examined with the electron microscope. Evaluations of activity of the virus particles were based solely on titrations of its infectivity for chicken embryos. Electron micrographs of vesicular stomatitis virus revealed rod shaped particles averaging 60 m[mu] in diameter and 210 m[mu] in length.
