Abstract
The roentgenographic appearance of renal candidiasis is presented in 2 cases: 1 of acute pyelonephritis and 1 of acute renal failure. In the first case, multiple fungus balls developed in the renal pelvis and in the second, a papillary necrosis. Renal involvement is common in systemic candidiasis and may result from prolonged use of indwelling intravenous catheters, chemotherapy, and immunosuppressive agents. Fungi evade host defense mechanisms by confinement within renal tubules where they proliferate and form cortical and medullary abscesses causing pyelonephritis, interstitial edema, and renal failure. Keywords
