Abstract
The uniaxial stress splitting of an optical transition observed in photoluminescence may be substantially different from the stress splitting of the same transition observed in absorption. This paper tabulates the splitting of photoluminescence transitions occurring at optical centres in cubic crystals. The results are illustrated by four examples using diamond as the host lattice. Keywords
