Les possibilités de l'analyse pollinique en Syrie et au Liban

Abstract
A number of pollen analysis were carried out on a very wide range of Near-Eastern samples dated between the Riss-Wurm Interglacial and the Holocene. Samples were obtained from marine fossiliferous sandstone, Lebanese cave and rock-shelter deposits and various lacustrian and ground sites in the Syrian steppe. Using modern processing methods, an adequate number of pollens was reached in most cases. A tentative wurmian climate chronology is suggested ; many gaps still exist but the establishment of a solid pattern related with Prehistory and Geology may be expected. The synchronisation « Glacial — Pluvial » and « Interglacial = Interpluvial » seems to have become obsolete in the Near East ivhere fluctuations are far more complex.
