Abstract
Azaserine inhibited the growth of A. agilis (A. vinelandii, Wisconsin strain O) at a concentration of 1 x 10-5 [image]. Concentrations of azaserine as high as 1 x 10-3 [image] had no effect on the a-ketoglutaric-aspartic transaminase, glutamic dehydrogenase, glutamine synthetase, glutamotransferase and aspartase activities of A. agilis. The crude glutamic dehydrogenase and aspartase preparations released ammonia from azaserine. Cell-free extracts of A. agilis produced a hydroxamate from azaserine in the presence of adenosine triphosphate. Keywords
