Religious participation among elderly blacks was examined using data from a national sample of black Americans. Three indicators of religious participation were utilized: frequencyof religious service attendance, church membership, and thedegree of subjective religiosity. The findings indicated that religious participation varied by gender, marital status, age, and urbanicity. Practical implications of the importance of religion in the lives of elderly blacks were discussed.
