Abstract
This report describes the morphologic features and serum-protein alterations in a transplantable plasmacytoma of the Syrian golden hamster. The original tumor arose in the neck of a female hamster 25 months of age and was composed of mature and immature plasma cells. It was easily transplanted to untreated weanling hamsters, in which the histologic features were retained for many transplant generations. Growth of the tumor transplants was associated with the appearance of an abnormal protein in the serum. The protein had an electrophoretic mobility of a β-globulin and a sedimentation constant of 13.4.Keywords
