Comparative study of lossy dielectric wedge diffraction for radio wave propagation modeling using UTD and FDTD

Abstract
The authors focus on the indoor site-specific modeling of radiowave propagation. In indoor environments, home or office buildings, most of the structures causing diffraction can be categorized into half planes, such as soft and hard partitions, and right-angle wedges, such its wall corners. They study the total field, including incident, reflected, diffracted and/or transmitted fields, in the whole space around the right-angle wedge and thick lossy dielectric half plane for both TE and TM polarisations. Transmission and reflection coefficients are given for lossy dielectric slabs, which are included in the modified UTD formula. Results are compared to those obtained by the FDTD method so as to evaluate the UTD based methods.
