Abstract
Virgin female mice receiving long-term progesterone treatment attained an appreciably greater body wt. than their untreated littermate controls. Male mice, both intact and castrate, receiving the same progesterone treatment failed to attain a greater body wt. than their untreated controls. Progesterone exerted a protective action against the body wt.-suppressing effect of estrogen.
