Abstract
Two hundred specimens of hemoglobin, prepared from the blood of children up to the age of 6 years, were investigated for their content of fetal hemoglobin. Fetal hemoglobin was usually absent after the age of 30 months, although an occasional hematologically normal individual was found to have minimal quantities of this pigment beyond this time. The discrepancy between the results of the present investigation and data in the literature seem to be explained on the basis of the different methods used in identifying the embryonic pigment. Keywords
