Current-mode active compensation techniques

Abstract
A general class of active compensation techniques based on current-mode analogue signal processing is described. These techniques are applicable to typical amplifier structures embedded in capacitive networks, such as operational amplifiers and integrators. A measure of the magnitude of the amplifier's capacitive embedment is shown to be directly related to an effective capacitance. This is significantly reduced by applying the proposed current-mode active compensation techniques, resulting in considerable improvement in amplifier speed, accuracy and bandwidth.
