Abstract
A brief review of gas chromatographic adsorbents and base materials is presented. The subject is basically considered in terms of an historical overview of several important classes of inorganic and organic supports as well as current work in specific areas, such as the chemical derivatization of fluoropolymers and carbon materials. Because of the enormity of the subject, which now spans forty-five years, it is possible to consider only a limited amount of the total volume of published work.
