Abstract
The in vitro conversion of corticosterone-4-14c to 18-hydroxy?corticosterone by the zona fasciculata-reticularis of beef adrenals is shown. Whole homogenate or mitochondrial fractions from the fasciculata-reticularis are able to convert corticosterone-4-14c to 18-hydroxycorticosterone at a rate comparable to that of zona glomerulosa. Despite this significant conversion of corticosterone-4-14c to 18-hydroxycorticosterone, little, if any, was converted to aldosterone. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
