Definition of Normal Blood Bilirubin

Abstract
To the Editor: In their paper concerning Gilbert's syndrome Powell et al. (November 23, 1967, issue) conclude that this disorder is probably inherited as a single autosomal dominant and that patients are heterozygous for a single mutant gene. They cite two groups of values for total serum bilirubin, one that they define as "normal" (0.4 ± S.D. 0.2 mg per 100 ml) and one as consistent with Gilbert's syndrome (2.9 ± S.D. 1.1 mg per 100 ml).
