The Sulfonamides

Abstract
Sulfamethoxypyridazine¶Sulfamethoxypyridazine (3-sulfanilamido-6-methoxypyridazine) is a "long acting" sulfonamide characterized by its ability to produce prolonged detectable levels in the blood when given in relatively small doses once or twice a day. Neipp and Mayer49 have indicated that the solubility of this drug at pH 4.0 is greater than that of sulfisoxazole or sulfadiazine. Sulfisoxazole is more soluble than sulfamethoxypyridazine at pH 5.5.A number of illuminating studies of the absorption, excretion and blood concentrations of sulfamethoxypyridazine have been reported. Roepke et al.50 investigated these phenomena in dogs. They found that the administration of 50 mg. per kilogram of body weight . . .
