The activity in vitro of growth hormone in reducing the respiratory quotient of rat diaphragm

Abstract
The effect of the RQ of isolated rat diaphragm respiring in glucose medium of the addition of growth-promoting pituitary preparations in vitro was studied. No relationship was found between growth-promoting activity in the hypophysectomized rat and RQ-depressing ability in vitro. The RQ-depressing factor appears not be growth hormone.
