Abstract
A reexam-ination of the evidence relating to the wave-like variations in the height of the contraction records of skeletal muscle when subjected to rhythmic stimulation. Previous experiments from the laboratory showing tonus waves are now shown to have been due to the recording apparatus used, i.e., the cord between the muscle and the lever passed over a pulley which was not perfectly centered and which changed its position from time to time and thus resulted in variations in this position of the lever simulating tonus changes. In the light of this observation, other work is criticized and a warning sounded to beware of wheels in apparatus for stimulating or recording. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
