Abstract
This paper introduces a new approach to solve the var optimization problem. It computes the desired optimal solution on-line and is applicable to large system deviations, without the need of an OPF. Problem non-linearities are retained. The overall problem is decomposed into subproblems which are solved separately using a suitable NLP Method. These results are then coordinated. This process is repeated until it converges to an overall optimum point. Keywords
