Abstract
Research on the growth and applications of single-crystal fibers in Japan is reviewed. Currently, three growth methods for single-crystal fiber preparation are being investigated in Japan: the laser-heated pedestal growth (LHPG) method, the micro-Czochralski method and the crucible method. The application of the device to second-harmonic generators, miniature solid-state lasers, and optic sensors is described.<>Keywords
