Abstract
In most of the 110 cases of typhoid fever treated with chloramphenicol in Natal, the response was excellent but not lasting. The drug is not the desired answer for the control of typhoid fever in that there is a high incidence of relapse, too many "carriers" remain, and many complications deyelop.Keywords
