THE CENTRAL BODY OF THE ASCOMYCETES

Abstract
The central apparatus of the Ascomycetes was well-known to light microscopists as the center of the astral rays and the terminus of the spindle. Electron micrography has revealed a structure which does not resemble the animal centriole but which appears to be the central apparatus of the Ascomycetes.
