Abstract
The reduced wave equation for an inhomogeneous medium ib considered. Low- and intermediate-frequency scattering data are assumed to be known exactly for one direction of incidence and all directions of scatter. From these data, the index of refraction in the medium is recovered approximately in two different ways. Moreover, explicit error estimates for the two methods are derived. Keywords
