Abstract
The prevalence of rickettsial antibodies in north-western part of Bosnia and Herzegovina was studied. Among 231 sera tested by complement fixation (CF) positive were: 61.5% forRickettsia typhi, 4.3% forR. prowazekii, 1.7% forR. conorii and 19.0% forCoxiella burnetii. Of 183 sera tested by indirect immunofluorescence assay (IFA) 37.7% reacted withR. typhi, 1.6% withR. conorii and 22.4% withC. burnetii. The results show that at leastR. typhi andC. burnetii are highly endemic in this area. Keywords
