Abstract
The reflection method is used to calculate energy shifts and linewidths in predissociation by a linear continuum. The analytic results of this method are compared to the exact analytic calculations. It is found that, as in semiclassical calculations, energy shifts and linewidths usually vanish at the same energies. The spectroscopic implications of this finding are pointed out. Keywords
