Abstract
The objective of this study was to examine leisure motivation and to develop an instrument for assessing it. The instrument assesses the psychological and sociological reasons for participation in leisure activities and is divided into four subscales. The four subscales, consisting of 12 items each, were entitled: Intellectual, Social, Competence-Mastery, and Stimulus-Avoidance. The items developed were subjected to an intensive procedure of trial administration, empirical analysis using conventional item and test analysis, and factor analysis. Finally, the revised instrument was administered to 1205 individuals. Internal consistency reliabilities of the subscales were around. 90.Keywords
