Abstract
A theory is developed for determining melting-point curves of salt mixtures and of salt mixtures containing small amounts of other ions. Depression of the curves is illustrated for NaCl + NaF and CaO + CaCl 2 at atmospheric pressure and then applied at 1000 bars to the system Ca(OH) 2 -CaCO 3 . The presence of 1.35 weight percent of water is calculated to lower the eutectic temperature in this system by 10 degrees C.Keywords
