Abstract
An adiabatic vacuum calorimeter has been used to measure the heat capacity of tris(acetylacetonato)chromium(III) from 80–300°K. An approximate extrapolation procedure has been used to estimate heat capacities below 80°K. Entropy, enthalpy, and free energy values have been derived at 10° intervals and are listed. The standard heat of formation and entropy of gaseous tris(acetylacetonato)chromium(III) have been evaluated at 298·16°K and 1 atmosphere pressure: ΔHf°=–344·7 ± 1·0 k.cal. mole–1; S°298·16–S0°= 142·4 ± 1·0 cal. deg.–1 mole–1.Keywords
