Sjögren's Syndrome and Achalasia of the Cardia in Two Siblings

Abstract
This report documents a rare occurrence of Sjögren's syndrome and achalasia of the cardia in two siblings (Table I). Sjögren's syndrome manifested itself at the ages of 4 and 8 years, and achalasia of the cardia at the age of 10 years in both girls. The familial occurrence of both these conditions is reviewed, and the genetic factors in their pathogenesis are discussed.
