Abstract
THE syndrome of humoral hypercalcemia of cancer was first described by Fuller Albright in 1941.1 When a patient's hypercalcemia and hypophosphatemia resolved after the radiation of a single bone metastasis from a renal carcinoma, Albright proposed that the tumor was secreting parathyroid hormone or a peptide with similar actions.Interest in this syndrome has persisted, and has become particularly intense during the past decade. In the past six months, three groups have isolated and partially sequenced the amino terminus of a parathyroid hormone-like peptide obtained from four different tumors associated with humoral hypercalcemia of cancer,2 3 4 5 and two groups have identified . . .Keywords
