Abstract
THE syndrome of humoral hypercalcemia of cancer was first described by Fuller Albright in 1941.1 When a patient's hypercalcemia and hypophosphatemia resolved after the radiation of a single bone metastasis from a renal carcinoma, Albright proposed that the tumor was secreting parathyroid hormone or a peptide with similar actions.Interest in this syndrome has persisted, and has become particularly intense during the past decade.
