Experiments on an Ultrasonic Flow Cytometer Using an Acoustic Velocity Change Measurement System with Arched IDT's

Abstract
Basic experiments were performed for the purpose of applying an ultrasonic technique to a flow cytometer which can detect the elastic parameters of biological cells. Acoustic velocity change of suspensions of plastic spheres and sheep red blood cells is measured employing a high-precision phase detection system using arched IDT's. The experimental and calculated results show that the present system can be applicable to an ultrasonic flow cytometer.
