Abstract
The intracellular signaling mechanisms that dictate myeloid differentiation and proliferation are discussed. Independent hematopoietic signaling pathways including p21ras pathway, c-myc pathway, and Jak-STAT pathway are defined. Emphasis is given to the process of information integration at the nucleus, by which developmental programs may be converted from binary decisions into the complex response patterns explaining hematopoietic diversity. Coupling between signaling and transcription is emphasized. Keywords
