Abstract
The anomalous properties of the santalol fraction of West Australian sandalwood oil have been explained by the detection of a considerable proportion of farnesol, which can be reduced by sodium and alcohol in liquid ammonia to dihydrofarnesene (I), and oxidized by manganese dioxide to farnesal.Keywords
