Abstract
Summary. Transvaginal ultrasound showed tubo‐ovarian abscess in 10 patients admitted for acute pelvic inflammatory disease, and transvaginal ultrasound‐guided aspiration of tubo‐ovarian abscess was performed under antimicrobial treatment. Only light sedation was required and the procedure was well tolerated by the patients. The short‐term recovery of all patients was quick and uncomplicated. This new technique is a useful alternative for the diagnosis and treatment of tuboovarian abscess. Keywords
