Abstract
Measurements have been made of the lifetimes of excited sodium 32P atoms in some premixed O2-H2-Ar flames operated at atmospheric pressure. Absolute fluorescence yields and cross sections for the quenching of the sodium D line fluorescence by oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen are derived. Keywords
