Abstract
Extrapyramidal symptoms were found to occur in about 1% of general medical patients treated with the phenothiazines or the tricyclic antidepressants. The drug most likely to produce these symptoms is trifluoperazine hydrochloride. There is a suggestion that the tendency for these drugs to produce these symptoms is enhanced in persons with systemic lupus erythematosus or in persons taking prednisone. Keywords
