Abstract
An attempt to segregate races of Cephus cinctus capable of maintaining a high cutting percentage in Rescue wheat (a solid stemmed variety) was unsuccessful. A possible reason for failure may lie in the lack of uniformity in the solidness of Rescue wheat stems. 19 categories of solidness were recorded by using number of internodes present in the stem, number of solid internodes, and combinations of solid internodes. Solidness involving the 2d internode was approx. inversely proportional to the amt. of cutting recorded.
