Abstract
Salivary gland tumors are not common; in children they are rare. Byers, Ackerman, and Peacock1 reported on 470 salivary gland tumors; only 5% of these occurred in patients less than 18 years of age. Howard, Ranson, Koop, Horn, and Royster2 reported on 21 children under 16 years of age with parotid gland tumors treated during the previous 22 years at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. These groups of cases include only those children with prolonged swellings, and they thus exclude acute infections of the salivary glands in childhood. Twenty salivary gland tumors (all but 1 in the parotid gland) were studied at Denver Children's Hospital during the 15 year period, 1947-1961. This report is concerned with follow-up information on this group of children. The study excludes all swellings attributed to acute infection. The Table is a tabulation of some of the basic data concerning these 20 patients. ThirteenKeywords
