Abstract
Ninety-nine cultures of imperfect non-fermenting pink yeasts of the genus Rhodotorula, most of them isolated from human skin surfaces, were studied and com-pared with type cultures of several spp. of the genus. Morphologic and 37 different physiologic characters were studied. A continuous series without breaks was found in the morphologic characters. There was very little evidence that the physiologic characters had any correlation with one another. It was concluded that, for the present, it would be preferable to recognize only 1 sp., Rhodotorula glutinis (Fres. ) Harrison. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
